Heather's Choice Smoked Sockeye Salmon Chowder

Salmon Sisters

Heather’s Choice® meals were developed to provide a healthy food option for the adventurous, and we love them! Inspired by home-cooked meals and her educational background in nutrition, Heather’s recipes were formed around three key principles: an emphasis on using sustainable proteins, such as 100% grass-fed bison or sustainably harvested salmon; the food must be lightweight and packable; and the meals must be dehydrated - a manner that is less energy intensive than more popular methods used in making trail food. When you eat a Heather’s Choice® meal, you can rest assured that your decision is making a positive impact on our world’s food system.

The wild salmon used in Heather's Choice Smoked Sockeye Salmon Chowder is wild-caught and then cold-smoked by the hands of our friends at Tilgner’s Specialty Seafoods in Deep Creek, AK. Six ounces of smoked Sockeye salmon, peas, carrots, and potatoes are added to the chowder and lightly spiced with dill and cayenne pepper. This recipe is an Alaskan dish that anyone can enjoy!
